MathDash Teacher Privacy Policy
Effective [DATE].
MathDash Teacher holds student work. All of it stays on the teacher's device. None of it is collected by us, and there is no server for it to be sent to.
What we collect
Nothing. The app has no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party SDKs. It makes no connection to the internet at all. We receive no information about you, your school, or your students, and we could not identify any of them.
What the app holds, and where
Because this is an assessment tool, it does keep records — on the teacher's device, in the app's own storage:
- Your class roster, including the student names you enter or import
- Completed evaluations: each problem, the student's answer, and how long they took
- Per-student history, including accuracy and average answer time over time
- Any written feedback you add, and any reward goals you set
Deleting the app deletes all of it. There is no backup held by us, because we never receive a copy.
How student work reaches you
Student devices running MathDash join a session you host and send their answers back directly to your device, over the local network or Bluetooth. Nothing passes through the internet, and nothing passes through us.
This is why the app works in a room with no internet connection, and why it needs permission to find devices on your local network. That permission is used for nothing else.
Rosters you import
You can import a roster from a CSV file you choose. It is read on the device and stored there. It is not uploaded, and we never see it.
Only a name is needed to identify a student in the app. It doesn't ask for — and has no field for — dates of birth, contact details, ID numbers or anything else. If your school would rather students weren't identified by full name, first names, initials or codes work exactly as well.
Exports you make
You can export results as a CSV file or a printable PDF. That happens only when you choose to, and the file goes wherever you send it — email, a print queue, your school's storage. Once it leaves the app it is outside our reach and yours, so treat those exports the way your school treats any other record of student work.
Your responsibilities, and ours
Ours is straightforward: we collect nothing, transmit nothing, and hold nothing.
Yours is the part that matters in practice. The student records in this app live on a device you control, so your school or district's own policies on handling student data apply to that device, its passcode, its backups and any exports you make from it. We can't set those policies for you and don't have visibility into them.
Children
This app is for teachers, not students. Children use MathDash, which collects nothing — see the MathDash privacy policy. No child interacts with this app directly, and it contains no ads, no purchases and no links out.
Permissions
The app asks for permission to find devices on your local network, which it needs to host a session. It does not use the camera, microphone, photos, contacts or location.
Changes
If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted here with a new effective date.
